Łasztowniaa good space. It’s a unique island, close to nature and steeped in the history of its port economy. Łasztownia is a district of Szczecin that has been revived in recent years and continues to develop at a dynamic pace.

Our plans for Łasztownia

SEC wants to play a part in its development. We want to create a modern, smart, low temperature district heating system in Łasztownia, harvesting local waste energy, using heat pumps and renewable energy.

We can create a network of connections between the entities that produce waste energy and their potential customers. The local heating grid will make it possible to use the energy in a flexible way and develop prosumer relations. By acting together, we will integrate the heating and cooling processes with heating pumps, solar panels and waste heat. Charging stations for electric cars will also support sustainable transport on Łasztownia.

This will create one of the most interesting districts in Szczecin, with unique infrastructure in Poland, delivering heat and cool at the same time.

Third Generation District Heating

Water network with the temperature of the heating agent not exceeding 100ºC. The grid parameters will adjust to the parameters of the installation inside the buildings. Currently, the temperature of the grid is usually determined by the need to prepare domestic hot water. The minimum grid temperature to prepare hot water without additional sources at the substation is 65°C.

Fifth Generation Heating Grid

Water grid with very low temperatures. The agent’s temperature does not exceed 50ºC. Parameters of the grids with very low temperatures are constant and not directly affected by how temperatures for installations in buildings are calculated. Under special circumstances, the heating agent can also supply cooling systems. For that purpose, the grid should have variable parameters, depending on the season. During the heating season, it should raise the temperature, and in the summer season, cool the agent.

Advantages of the new generation network

  • reduction of heat losses – due to smaller temperature differences between the heating agent and the surroundings; materials are in operation for a longer period of time, because they are subject to lower pressures and temperatures of the heating agent and hence are more durable,
  • lower investment costs – you can use materials adjusted to lower temperatures and pressures, minimizing losses due to faults – lower pressure and temperature lead to less damage during faults,
  • possibility to receive waste heat from buildings – waste heat usually has a relatively low temperature, introducing such heat to a high-parameter grid is not possible,
  • production of cool – a grid of very low parameters makes it possible, under some conditions, to offer the customer heat that can also be used in cooling systems.
