Digitisation of district heating networks

Szczecin

Project title: Digitalisation of the district heating system in Szczecin to improve the efficiency of heat transmission to customers.
Funding application numbers: 43/2024 and 44/2024

Investor / Grant beneficiary: Szczecińska Energetyka Cieplna Sp. z o.o.

Investment description:

As part of this ambitious investment, Szczecińska Energetyka Cieplna is carrying out a comprehensive modernisation and expansion of the telemetry and automation system of the municipal district heating network in Szczecin. This is not only an upgrade of infrastructure – it is also a major step towards intelligent management of thermal energy in the city.
The objective of the project is to significantly increase the efficiency of the entire district heating system. By combining advanced investment, organisational and regulatory measures, it will be possible to reduce heat losses during transmission and precisely adjust heat supply to the actual needs of residents.
The implemented IT solutions will enable ongoing monitoring, remote control and forecasting of heat demand – all in order to ensure optimal thermal comfort for end users while simultaneously saving energy and caring for the environment.

The project is financed under Priority Programme No. 4.13 “Zero-Emission Energy System – Digitalisation of District Heating Networks”.

Total value of the investment: PLN 33,369,000.00

  • Grant funding: PLN 16,679,500.00
  • Loan financing: PLN 16,679,500.00

The expected environmental effects of the project include:

  • Reduction in primary energy consumption: 49,543 GJ/year
  • Amount of thermal energy saved: 65,188 GJ/year
  • Reduction in CO2 emissions: 5,741 Mg/year

The project is financed by funds from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Warsaw, accumulated in the Modernisation Fund account.
