UNIA 3 project group

The task of the UNIA 3 Project Group is to modernise and expand Szczecin’s district heating system in order to guarantee the supply of heat to the city’s inhabitants and to reduce heat losses in the transmission of thermal energy.

Completion time: November 2017 – 2023

Total project value: PLN 101 million, including EU funding of PLN 58 million

Project objectives:

  • 25 km of upgraded district heating networks,
  • 17 km of new district heating networks,
  • 68 modern heat substations,
  • heat from the SEC network also available outside Szczecin,
  • 4 new housing estates connected to a safe and environmentally friendly SEC network,

Eco-effects:

  • 60,800 GJ/year – reduction in primary energy consumption,
  • 6 170 Mg/year reduction in CO2 emissions,
  • Less PM 10 and PM 2.5 and cleaner air we breathe,

This project has received funding from the European Unionunder the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014 – 2020 from Measure 1.5 Efficient distribution of heat and cooling and 1.6.2 District heating and cooling networks for high-efficiency cogeneration sources.

Extension of the district heating system of Szczecińska Energetyka Cieplna Sp. z o.o. in the area of Duńska – Szczecińska – Kalinowa streets and from Floriana Krygiera street to housing estates located in Warzymice

Scope of work for the project:

  • construction of a new district heating network with a total length of 4.8 km, which enabled the Warszewo Podbórz and Warzymice housing estates to be connected to Szczecin’s municipal district heating system.
  • connection to the SEC network in the Warszewo Podbórz and Warzymice housing estates.

Connecting the planned housing estate in Wschodnia Street in Szczecin (Podjuchy district) to the district heating network

Connecting the new housing estate planned in the area of Szosa Polska – Policka Street to the district heating system of Szczecińska Energetyka Cieplna

Scope of work for the project:

  • construction of 6.2 km of new district heating network,
  • construction of a new district heating network with a total length of 6.2 km, which enabled the Wrzosowe Wzgórze housing estate to be connected to Szczecin’s municipal district heating system.

Reconstruction of existing and construction of new district heating systems – stage I and stage II

Scope of work for the project:

  • Reconstruction of duct heating networks to pre-insulated networks and replacement of insulation on overhead networks with a total length of 25 km;
  • reconstruction of group nodes into individual nodes (67 units)
  • The works were carried out, among others, in the area of Jasna, Turkusowa, Kolorowych Domów, Ku Słońcu, Chopina, Rugiańska, Szymanowskiego, Bogurodzicy, Kaszubska, Bogusława, Kr. Jadwigi streets
